### Objective

Topology Squirrel Cage Induction Machine (SCIM) Analytical electromagnetic model EM1.SCIMAnalytical structural model SM.ANLAnalytical acoustic model AC1 Maximum sound power level during run-up (SWL) NA NA

The objective of this validation case is to show the ability of MANATEE to remove spectral leakage effects inherent to induction machines (slip frequency) by increasing the number of revolutions.

### Machine

Manatee model for SCIM_008

### Results

Spectral leakage effects with 1 revolution
Spectral leakage effects with 4 revolutions
Spectral leakage effects with 20 revolutions
1/3 octave A-weighted acoustic noise spectrum (1 rev)
1/3 octave A-weighted acoustic noise spectrum (4 rev)
1/3 octave A-weighted acoustic noise spectrum (20 rev)

One can see that the maximum sound power level is unchanged by spectral leakage. The overall noise level at resonance is therefore not influenced by large spectral leakage, however some third octave band levels may be artificially increased.

It is therefore recommended to increase the number of revolutions when operating at high slip or to switch to MANATEE frequency domain solver.
