Electromagnetic semi-analytical module for surface permanent magnet machines (EM2.SPMSM)


Subdomain semi-analytical model for the prediction of the closed circuit airgap radial & tangential flux density due to surface magnets in radial flux PMSM (internal rotor, parallel or radial or Hallbach magnetization).

The model assumptions are
- surface permanent magnet inner rotor synchronous machine
- radial edges for magnets and stator slots, and stator slot openings
- cylindrical bottom for magnets and stator slots (fully polar geometry)

Application to e-NVH

Tangential forces might be important when calculating noise and vibration due to magnetic forces in SPMSM. The permeance/mmf model cannot calculate tangential forces, so subdomain model is here very useful to quickly calculate the airgap field and resulting magnetic forces.
