Objectives

In detailed design phase, calculations of vibrations should be refined using 3D CAD model of the electrical machine and housing assembly. This module therefore structural dynamic vibrations by coupling MANATEE to third-party FEA mechanical software.

Description

This module automatically couples MANATEE to a structural mechanics FEA model predefined in a third-party software (Altair Optistruct, Ansys Mechanical, MSC Actran, Abaqus) to apply operational or elementary magnetic loads for ALG.EVS.

In case no 3D FEA model exists, a concept stator or rotor (3D structural model of stator including winding or external rotor including magnet weight) for Optistruct/Ansys can be automatically generated from MANATEE.

Dynamic vibrations are solved by third party FEA software solver using modal superposition technique, and results of FEA software are automatically read by MANATEE for further post processing.

An existing modal basis from third party FEA software can be direcly imported to perform modal expansion inside MANATEE.
