What is the difference between MANATEE and multiphysic numerical software suites (e.g. Ansys Workbench, Comsol Multiphysics, Siemens Simcenter)?

The advantages of MANATEE® compared to multiphysic numerical software suites (e.g. Ansys® Workbench, COMSOL Multiphysics®, Siemens Simcenter™) can be summarized as following:

  1. pre-defined multiphysic couplings (no need to define how to couple electromagnetics, structural mechanics and acoustics) to shorten simulation set-up
  2. adapted modelling levels for use during both early electromagnetic design iterations (NVH ranking of e-machines in a few seconds of calculation) and detailed structural design (optimized coupling with structural FEA)

MANATEE is the only software providing a fast and accurate computation of noise & vibrations due to 3D Maxwell forces in radial flux electrical machines: variable speed calculation time on a standard laptop varies from a few seconds to one minute including switching effects up to 20 kHz.

MANATEE can naturally be used in basic design phase, to evaluate NVH behavior during early electromagnetic design loops (e.g. different slot/pole combination, different topologies), but it can also be used during detailed design phase, using Electromagnetic Vibration Synthesis coupling with structural FEA such as Optistruct, and after manufacturing as a diagnosis tool to identify and tackle magnetic noise & vibrations issues. MANATEE can also help electric machine designers specifying manufacturing and assembly tolerances to have a better control on vibration and noise levels.

MANATEE contains advanced vibroacoustic post processing tools to help the electric machine designer understand the root cause of magnetic noise & vibrations and run appropriate noise mitigation actions (e.g. slot number change, pole shaping, current injection, skewing, notches).

Contrary to available electromagnetic FEA software (e.g. Flux, Maxwell, Jmag, Magnet) MANATE models do not suffer from high mesh sensitivity issues when calculating magnetic forces.
