In 2020, EOMYS has been working extensively on the development of the version V2 of MANATEE software.

For engineers who need to monitor the noise level of an electrified system during its whole development cycle, MANATEE pioneering software offers a unique, integrated multi-disciplinary simulation and analysis environment of electromagnetic noise and vibrations, including their diagnosis and mitigation techniques in electrical machines.

Version 2.0 is planned for the first quarter of 2021 and first aims at providing dedicated workflows to electrical engineers, so they can simply evaluate the electromagnetic noise and vibrations (e-NVH) performances of their electrical machine design.

Other versions will follow in 2021, integrating the corresponding models aimed at mechanical engineers (April), acoustic engineers (September) and test engineers (December 2021).

We are now proud to announce MANATEE V2.0 beta testing version, starting in February 2021. The beta testing version aims at further improving the current software based on additional user experience, hence we open it to any beta testers motivated to help us in this purpose.

How does it work:
As a beta tester of MANATEE V2.0, you will be able to calculate the noise level of your own machine topology, and this completely for free in returns of regular and detailed feedback.

  • The beta testing campaign will probably start the beginning of February, so please keep some free time in your agenda!

Main features

The main features included in the beta version of MANATEE software are:

  • Preceding the simulation, a user interface to ease the definition of your own machine topology, among the two main machine types that are available: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSM) and Squirrel Cage Induction Machines (SCIM).
  • To set up the simulation, a user interfaces to choose between predefined workflows so you get e-NVH performances with the best trade-off between computation and accuracy, according to on how far you are in the design process.
  • Following the simulation, a user interface to perform automated e-NVH post-processings such as noise spectrograms and order tracking analysis.

Predefined workflows

The beta version of MANATEE V2.0 will supply 3 major predefined and dedicated workflows, making simulation work much smoother and easier.

  • Variable speed noise calculation at the early design stage for PMSM and SCIM.
    For PMSM noise calculation along Id/Iq control law (at maximum torque-speed curve). For SCIM noise calculation at no load.
  • Variable speed noise calculation at the intermediate design stage for PMSM.
    Noise calculation along Id/Iq control law. Based on MLUT (Magnetic Look-Up Table) calculated by MANATEE or created from user imported flux.
  • Variable speed noise calculation at the advanced design stage for PMSM and SCIM.
    For PMSM noise calculation along Id/Iq control law (at maximum torque-speed curve). For SCIM noise calculation at no load.

Multiphysics models

Electromagnetic models are:

  • Permeance / Magnetomotive force (PMMF) + Load Extrapolation Algorithm (LEA) for early design stage.
  • Magnetic Look-Up Table calculated with FEA (automated coupling with FEMM) + Load Interpolation Algorithm (LIA) for intermediate design stage.
  • Direct calculation with FEA (automated coupling with FEMM) for advanced design stage.

Fast structural model is based on the analytical equivalent cylinder of stator structure + Electromagnetic Vibration Synthesis (EVS).

Fast acoustic model is based on analytical radiation efficiency of equivalent cylinder + Electromagnetic Noise Synthesis (ENS).
